A Few Of My Favorite Things
My Odd Assortment Of Favorite Things
1) Dukkah
Cat Momma. I adopted Dukkah when I first came to Flagler and he is the by far the best cat I could have asked for. He's named after dukkah the Buddhist term that means "suffering". I chose this bizarre name because it was expected that he would greatly clash with my older cat, Taco. Gratefully, the two get along perfectly and he is just what we needed. He keeps everyone around me entertained with constant goofiness. Needless to say, this silly little cat is the best of my favorite things.
2) Decorated Small Glass Mason Jar Filled With White Shells
Gifts. I collected white shells to give to my Mom for Mother's Day and ended up gathering a few too many so I decided to keep the leftovers for myself. I jarred them up in this small mason jar that I bought from a local St. Augustine consignment and thrift shop a few months back. This jar is one of my favorite things because it ties my love for the beach, my love for my mother, and a gorgeous vintage mason jar all together.
3) Magic Hat #9
Boozer. I had my first Magic Hat #9 in downtown St. Augustine at the St. George Tavern. Ever since, this beer has been my favorite because it's smooth and the tastiest of all brews. Prior to college, I was never much of a beer drinker and this particular beverage changed my view on IPA brews and beers in general. In the broader spectrum of life, coming to college has opened my eyes to things I never imagined I'd enjoy or experience.
4) Small, Corked, Glass Bottle Filled With My Shark's Teeth Collection
Collection Addict. I've been collecting shark's teeth for almost 5 years and I've accumulated enough to begin filling up this glass bottle. One of my favorite hobbies is to collect shark's teeth on the beach in the morning and begin my day with a clear mind and some new teeth! I have also begun making rings with the teeth I've collected, so my hobby has grown into creation.
5) Conch Shell
Exploration Fiend. Found on my favorite beach- Boating Club Road in Vilano Beach. My home of the past two and a half years. Every morning I skateboard up to the beach, jump in the ocean, and sprawl out of the sand. One day I was lucky enough while emerging from the ocean to kick a conch shell, the first I've ever found.
6) Decorative Flower Candle
Fire Fan. One of the first decorations I bought myself for my apartment in Vilano Beach. I have always been attracted to fire as much as I am attracted to the ocean so candles and incense exist in my daily life.
7) KB "Flipping Off" Sock
Sock Fanatic. These are by far my favorite pair of socks in my collection because they cause such shock in the people who notice them. I have always enjoyed catching people off guard and causing discomfort to see how people respond in awkward situations. The best response I've ever gotten is from Professor Angelenia Semegon. During a lecture in Child Psychology, she blurted out, "I'm sorry, but are your socks flipping me off?" Every class that followed she'd recall my socks and openly speak about how much she adored them making the socks even more memorable.
8) Mosseland Riesling Wine Cat Bottle
Cat Lover. Grew up in a household with a mother who was a major cat lover and a very light alcohol drinker. To this day, she drinks a single glass of red or white wine during a sitting I collect these bottles because they remind me of her and our compassion for animals.
